Owen’s Inventions

You made this today, Owen, and called it your invention. 🙂 It made me so proud and happy to see you building something of your own design, iterating on it, and then happily showing it off. We didn’t get a chance to use squirt guns today but next time we will.

At one point, you were sucking your thumb and twirling some hair around in your other hand (like you always do when you’re tired), but the hair bunched up and you called it a hair spider. You told me not to give you so many hairs next time and threw it away.

You were also telling me about spooky ghosts, spooky monsters, and spooky deer, “They’re not real though!” You would run up and dote on your baby sister. Athena loves watching you play. Her eyes light up and she starts beaming when she sees you.

You also speculated that Reigh, the superviser, wears diapers instead of going to the potty. She commented on what a sense of humor you have. I don’t think anyone can spend more than 5 minutes with you before finding out how incredibly funny you are.

Also today when I asked you your full name, you answered “Owen Russell Jurowski” all by yourself for the first time! I wish I could capture the adorable way you say it.

You now can say that you’re three years old (you also incidentally think everyone else is three years old too), you know how many brothers and sisters you have as well as their names, you’ve learned your colors, and now we’re working on your birthday.

Speaking of, when I told you that May 2nd was your birthday, you asked me, “Where my birthday is?” and then shrugged your shoulders. It’s a legitimate question. I realized I had no way of explaining it to you right now. I said you would have to wait awhile but it made me realize that the passing of time is something we all have to learn experientially on our own.

Or as you would say, “All by myself!” Just like Winnie and Eliza used to say too.
